BARC Scientist Recruitment 2026: What’s on Offer?
BARC is recruiting Scientific Officers through two elite training programmes:
- OCES-2026 – One-year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates
- DGFS-2026 – Two-year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates
Selected candidates will undergo intensive training and receive a monthly stipend of ₹74,000 during the training period. After successful completion, candidates will be appointed as Group-A Scientific Officers with a total monthly salary of around ₹1.35 lakh (7th Pay Commission), along with multiple allowances.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have minimum 60% aggregate marks in eligible degrees:

B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engineering) / Integrated M.Tech. in:
- Civil
- Chemical
- Computer Science
- Electrical
- Electronics
- Instrumentation
- Mechanical
- Metallurgical Engineering
Science Disciplines:
M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. in:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biosciences
- Geology
- Geophysics
Only full-time, regular degrees are accepted. Distance learning or part-time courses are not eligible.
GATE Requirement
Candidates applying through GATE screening must have a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025, or 2026 in the relevant paper.
Final-year students (2025–26) can apply, provided they complete their degree requirements by 31 July 2026.
Age Limit (as on 1 August 2026)
- General: Up to 26 years
- OBC-NCL: Up to 29 years
- SC/ST: Up to 31 years
- 1984 Riot Victims / J&K Domicile (1980–89): Up to 31 years
PwD candidates (40% or more disability) are eligible for age relaxation as per rules.
BARC Junior Scientist Salary & Benefits
During Training
- Stipend: ₹74,000 per month
- Book Allowance (OCES): ₹30,000 (one-time)
- DGFS Benefits:
- Full M.Tech tuition fee reimbursement
- ₹60,000 per year contingency grant (for 2 years)
- Up to ₹4 lakh project funding (BRNS scheme)
After Appointment
- Pay Level: Level 10 (7th CPC)
- Basic Pay: ₹56,100
- Total Monthly Salary: ~₹1,35,000 (Mumbai posting)
Additional perks include DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, LTC (air), Children Education Allowance, PRIS, and full medical coverage.
Selection Process Explained
Selection happens in two stages:
1. Screening
Candidates are shortlisted through:
- Online Screening Exam, OR
- GATE Score-based shortlisting
You can apply through both modes to improve your chances.
2. Selection Interview
- Conducted at BARC Training School, Mumbai
- Geology & Geophysics interviews held in Hyderabad
Final selection is based only on interview performance, subject to medical fitness.
Outstation candidates are eligible for AC-III tier train fare reimbursement.
